Introduction

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Matchn ("Matchn", "we", "our", "us"), including our app, website, and related services (the "Services").

By creating an account or using Matchn, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.

Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old, or the minimum age required in your country, to use Matchn. If you are under the age of legal majority where you live, you may use the Services only with permission from a parent or legal guardian where required by law.

Accounts

You are responsible for your account and for activity under your credentials.

You agree to:

  • provide accurate account and profile information;
  • keep your login credentials secure;
  • not impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity;
  • not create accounts for abusive, misleading, unlawful, or automated purposes;
  • notify us if you believe your account has been compromised.

Optional profile fields you provide (such as birthday and gender) are collected and used only as described in our Privacy Policy. We do not display your date of birth or age on profiles or screens that other users see.

You may register using email and password, Sign in with Google, or Sign in with Apple. We may verify your email address using a verification code or link.

Sports, Games, Meetups, and Offline Activity

Matchn helps users discover, organize, and join casual real-world sports activities. We do not control users, venues, weather, transportation, physical conditions, or participant conduct.

You understand and agree that sports and real-world meetups involve inherent risks, including injury, property loss, unsafe conduct by others, or cancellations. You are responsible for deciding whether a game, group, venue, organizer, or participant is safe and appropriate for you.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Matchn is not responsible for injuries, disputes, no-shows, cancellations, venue issues, or offline interactions between users.

User Content

You may create or share profile information, posts, images, comments, messages, game listings, communities, venue information, venue reviews, peer sport ratings, availability signals, and other content ("User Content").

You keep ownership of your User Content. You grant Matchn a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, display, transmit, process, and use your User Content as needed to operate, protect, improve, and promote the Services.

If you are an authorized group administrator and you submit a community spotlight photo through the app, you agree that Matchn may use that submission on Matchn-owned social media and in marketing. Those submissions are provided as a channel for Matchn to receive photos and are not displayed to other users as an in-app gallery solely because they were submitted.

You are responsible for your User Content and must not upload or share content that is illegal, abusive, hateful, sexually exploitative, infringing, misleading, fraudulent, or otherwise harmful.

Peer Ratings and Reliability Signals

Matchn includes features that allow users to rate other users (1–5 stars per sport), report no-shows, leave games, and report abusive content or accounts. Matchn computes reliability and trust signals from this data, including lifetime games joined, voluntary leaves, and creator-reported no-shows, and may surface these signals to other users.

You agree:

  • to use ratings and reports honestly and in good faith;
  • not to use ratings, reports, blocks, or moderation features to harass, retaliate, or coordinate abuse;
  • that ratings, reports, and reliability signals you submit may be used for moderation, account actions, and to inform other users' decisions;
  • that submitting false, malicious, or coordinated reports is a violation of these Terms.

We may remove ratings, reports, or accounts that misuse these features.

Community Rules and Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

  • harass, threaten, abuse, stalk, or discriminate against other users;
  • post illegal, harmful, hateful, sexually explicit, violent, or exploitative content;
  • spam users, scrape data, or misuse invitations, availability, games, groups, messaging, polls, or ratings;
  • impersonate others or misrepresent affiliations;
  • bypass privacy, safety, moderation, rate-limit, or access controls;
  • interfere with the security, availability, or operation of the Services;
  • use Matchn for fraud, scams, commercial spam, or unlawful activity.

Moderation and Enforcement

We may review, remove, restrict, or moderate content and accounts when we believe it is necessary to protect users, enforce these Terms, comply with law, prevent abuse, or maintain the integrity of the Services.

We may suspend or terminate accounts, remove content, restrict features, soft-delete posts, games, venues, or communities based on report thresholds, or take other appropriate action for violations.

Child safety (CSAE)

Our approach to child safety and preventing child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) is summarized on our public Child Safety Standards page, which is provided for transparency and should be read together with these Terms and our Privacy Policy.

Communications and Push Notifications

If you grant permission, Matchn may send push notifications about your activity (friend requests, game invitations, community updates, ranking events, polls, reminders, and similar). You can disable notifications in your device settings. Notifications are delivered via Apple Push Notification service (iOS) and Firebase Cloud Messaging (Android), with Expo as an optional intermediary.

Chat and Third-Party Messaging

In-app chat is delivered through Stream Chat (getstream.io) acting as a service provider. Message content you send is processed and stored to deliver messaging features and to support moderation, as described in our Privacy Policy.

If you choose to send voice messages, Matchn will request microphone access. Microphone access is used only while you actively record audio and is controlled through your device permissions settings.

Location

Map, nearby, and venue features rely on device location and require permission. You can revoke location permission in your device settings; some features (nearby games, nearby venues, map view) will not work without it.

Payments and Fees

Matchn does not currently process in-app purchases, subscriptions, or other payments. If we add paid features in the future, the applicable price and conditions will be shown before purchase, and these Terms will be updated accordingly.

Third-Party Services

The Services rely on third-party providers including Google (Sign-In, Maps Platform, Places, Firebase Cloud Messaging), Apple (Sign in with Apple, APNs), Stream Chat (getstream.io), Expo / EAS, and cloud hosting and storage providers. Third-party terms and privacy policies may apply to your use of those services.

Intellectual Property

Matchn, including our app, interface, software, logos, branding, designs, and related materials, is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you ownership of Matchn or our intellectual property.

Disclaimers

The Services are provided "as is" and "as available." We do not guarantee that games will happen, participants will attend, venues will be open or suitable, ratings or reliability signals will be accurate, user content will be accurate, or the Services will be uninterrupted or error-free.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Matchn and its owners, operators, employees, contractors, and service providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, personal injury, property damage, offline disputes, or user conduct arising from or related to your use of the Services.

Account Termination

You may stop using Matchn at any time and may delete your account through the app.

We may suspend, restrict, or terminate your account or access to the Services if you violate these Terms, create risk for other users, misuse the Services, abuse rating or reporting features, or use the Services unlawfully.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last Updated" date and, where required, providing additional notice.

Continued use of the Services after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
