Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how Matchn ("Matchn", "we", "our", "us") collects, uses, discloses, and protects personal information when you use our app, website, and related services (the "Services").
By using Matchn, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.
Account deletion
Matchn is the app listed on Google Play and the App Store as Matchn (identifier com.matchn.app).
How to delete your account
- Open the Matchn app and sign in.
- Open your profile menu from your profile.
- Tap Delete Account and confirm.
What is removed
We remove your account and profile, friend connections and friend requests, blocks, your posts and their images, comments and likes you authored, games you created, your participation and join requests in games you joined, your profile photo on our storage, your push notification tokens, and in-app notifications addressed to you. Other data tied to your account (such as messages already received by other users, peer ratings you submitted, reviews you wrote, reports you filed, or content you contributed to shared communities) may be deleted, anonymized, or retained as described in this policy.
What may be kept
We may keep limited information where law requires it, in aggregated or de-identified form, or where retention is necessary for fraud prevention, abuse handling, dispute resolution, or platform integrity. Logs and backups may remain for a limited time (often up to about 30 days as backups rotate) except where law requires longer retention.
If you cannot use the app
Email admin@matchn.co.il from your account email with your username to request deletion; we verify ownership before processing.
Information We Collect
Information You Provide
Account data
- Name, username, email address, hashed password.
- Authentication identifiers from third-party sign-in providers (Google subject ID, Apple subject ID) and which provider you used.
- Terms-of-service acceptance timestamp.
Profile data
- Profile photo, profile color, bio.
- City or location text, preferred sports, favorite sports, personal tags, skill level.
- Peer ratings you receive from other users (1–5 stars per sport) and computed average rankings per sport.
Photos and images from your device
- When you choose images from your gallery (for example a profile picture, a post, a community cover, or venue photos), the app opens your device's standard photo picker. On supported iOS versions this follows Apple's Photos picker behavior: ordinarily only images you explicitly pick are provided to the app for upload—we do not use those flows to access or scan your whole photo library.
- On Android, selection also goes through the system-style picker when available; only images you choose are used unless the OS prompts for broader access.
- When you use Take photo, camera access applies only to capture a new picture.
Contact data
- Optional phone number. The phone number is stored on your account but is not displayed to other users in the app. We retain it solely on your user record so that you can update or remove it from your profile.
Optional sensitive profile fields
- Date of birth and gender, optional except where required for legal age requirements or eligibility controls. We use these only for age-gating, eligibility (for example, gender-restricted games where applicable), and product features.
- Birthday and age visibility: We do not display your date of birth or your age on profiles or screens that other users see. If you enter a birthday, the app may show you a calculated age only while you are editing that field (for example during profile setup or in account settings), so you can confirm your selection before it is saved.
Social content
- Posts (image and caption), likes, comments, chat messages, community/group interactions, game announcements.
- Friend connections, friend requests, user blocks, profile shares.
- Community memberships, community join requests and invitations, game invitations and shares.
- Peer ratings you give to other users.
- Reviews you write about venues (text and 1–5 star rating).
Gameplay and activity data
- Games you create or join, pending games, join requests, waiting list positions.
- Equipment commitments (for example who is bringing a ball, racquets, or a net).
- Team formations and team names.
- Game polls and your votes, availability votes and time-slot signals.
- Lifetime gameplay counters: games joined, voluntary leaves, and creator-reported no-shows. These are used to compute reliability and trust signals shown to other users.
Support and moderation data
- Help and feedback messages submitted via in-app forms.
- Abuse and content reports you submit (target, reason, optional description).
- Moderation responses, warnings, suspensions, and resolution notes.
Information Collected Automatically
- Technical data: IP address, device identifiers, app version, OS type and version, language, timezone, crash diagnostics, server-side error logs.
- Usage data: feature usage, navigation events, interaction logs, search queries inside the app, online status, last active time, timestamps.
- Location data: approximate or precise location (only if permission is granted) for map features, nearby games and venues, and relevance ranking.
- Notification tokens: push notification tokens (FCM on Android, APNs on iOS, or Expo push token), platform identifier, and delivery metadata. We retain these tokens to deliver push notifications to your device.
Information From Third Parties
- Google Sign-In and Sign in with Apple when you use social login (we receive a subject ID and basic profile information).
- Google Maps Platform and Places API for geocoding, venue search, and location normalization.
- Stream Chat (getstream.io) for in-app chat messaging delivery.
- Expo / EAS for app delivery and push routing.
- Cloud hosting and storage providers for infrastructure.
How We Use Information
We process data to:
- provide core functionality (accounts, games, groups, chat, posts, notifications);
- personalize discovery and recommendations (nearby games, venues, communities, suggested users);
- operate trust and safety systems, including reliability scoring, abuse reports, blocks, and content moderation;
- operate and secure the platform;
- troubleshoot, debug, and improve product quality;
- comply with legal obligations and enforce legal rights.
We do not use personal data for third-party advertising or for tracking across other companies' apps and websites. Matchn does not contain advertising SDKs.
Data Sharing
We do not sell personal information for money.
We may share data:
- With other users: profile details (excluding your phone number and excluding your date of birth and age—we do not surface those to others), content you publish, game and group participation, friend connections, and messages, as required by product features. Reviews and posts you publish are visible to other users of the Services.
- With service providers / processors acting under contract:
- Google (Sign-In, Maps Platform, Places, Firebase Cloud Messaging)
- Apple (Sign in with Apple, APNs)
- Stream Chat (in-app messaging)
- Expo / EAS (build and notification delivery)
- Cloud hosting, storage, and security providers
- For legal reasons: court orders, legal process, public authorities, rights protection, safety.
- Business transfers: merger, acquisition, restructuring, or asset transfer (with notice where required).
Legal Bases (where applicable, including GDPR)
Depending on jurisdiction, legal bases include:
- contract performance;
- legitimate interests (for example trust and safety, fraud prevention, product improvement);
- consent (for example precise location, push notifications, optional profile fields);
- legal obligations;
- protection of vital interests/public interest.
Your Privacy Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to:
- access and receive a copy of personal information;
- correct inaccurate information;
- delete information (subject to legal exceptions);
- data portability;
- object/restrict certain processing;
- withdraw consent (where processing is consent-based);
- appeal decisions or lodge complaints with regulators.

Data Retention
We retain personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes described above, including legal, tax, accounting, dispute, abuse-prevention, and security needs. When deletion is requested, active account data is removed or anonymized within a reasonable operational period, except where retention is legally required. Backups and operational logs may persist for a limited rotation period (typically up to about 30 days).
Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards, including:
- encryption in transit;
- secure credential handling and password hashing;
- role-based access controls;
- monitoring, logging, and incident response practices.
No system is 100% secure, but we continuously improve controls.
Children's Privacy
Matchn is not intended for children under 13 (or higher minimum age where local law requires). We do not knowingly allow underage accounts. If we discover underage data collection, we will take appropriate remedial steps, including removal.
Location, Chat, and Community/Game Data
- Location: used for nearby experiences and relevance; controlled by OS permissions and app settings. Precise and approximate location are processed only while you actively use related features.
- Chat: delivered via Stream Chat (getstream.io) under contract. Message content is processed and stored to deliver messaging features and to support moderation.
- Game and community data: processed and stored to deliver social features. Public games, community games, and community profiles may be visible to other users of the Services.
- Reliability signals: lifetime gameplay counters (games joined, voluntary leaves, creator-reported no-shows) and peer ratings are used internally to compute trust and reliability signals visible to other users in your app context.
- Phone number: stored only on your own user record and not displayed to other users in the app.
- Gender and date of birth: optional profile enrichment used for age-gating, eligibility, and product features, subject to user controls and legal obligations.
Tracking
Matchn does not engage in cross-app or cross-website tracking. We do not link data from this app with data collected from other companies' apps or websites for targeted advertising or measurement, and we do not share user data with data brokers.
Payments
Matchn does not currently process in-app purchases, subscriptions, or other payments. If we add paid features in the future, we will update this Privacy Policy and notify users where required by law.
International Transfers
If data is transferred across borders, we apply appropriate safeguards required by law (for example, contractual protections and security controls).
Cookies and Similar Technologies
Where applicable on web surfaces (for example landing pages and admin dashboard), we may use cookies, local storage, and similar technologies for authentication, preferences, security, and analytics.
Third-Party Services
Our Services rely on third-party providers including Google (Sign-In, Maps Platform, Places, Firebase Cloud Messaging), Apple (Sign in with Apple, APNs), Stream Chat (getstream.io), Expo / EAS, and cloud hosting and storage providers. Their independent policies may apply to their processing.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the new policy in the app and updating the "Last Updated" date.
